Days 0.5 and 1

Traveling from Koya San to Tokushima proved to take much longer than anticipated, partly because the cable car that goes up the mountain is currently out of service due to a tsunami last year. So to get up and down the mountain, we took the long way by bus. I also underestimated how long it would take to get to Wakayama by train. So after a morning visit to the Okunoin, Dwayne and I spent most of the day in a bus, train, ferry, and train again. We arrived at our lodging at 7:30, grabbed some ramen, and went to bed. Yesterday was our first real day of the pilgrimage. We took the train to Temple 1 and made it halfway to Temple 6. Stayed at 寿食堂 (Kotobuki Shokudo) minshuku where we were given adorable shikoku pilgrimage hand towels and matches as ossettai. They also fed us a huge nabe pot for dinner, which was just what we needed. Steps logged: 31,335 Distance traveled: 13.5 miles (Fitbit), 11.2 miles (Google) Another long day ahead.
